Thanks Maria for the great time we had at your house for book club last month! I'm sooooo happy to inform everyone that we have another member....yay!!!!!! Welcome Hillary (sorry if I spelled your name wrong, I still need your info). We are so glad you came and added excellent comments to our discussion!
I brought the book choices for March and we chose to read:
(ps. If you don't have a goodreads account online, you should get one. Then you can add me as a friend and look at the book choices and picks we have had in the past. Maybe someday we will be big enough to really be "official" with an actual book club group on goodreads. Wouldn't that be neat ;)
I am so excited about this pick, first because I LOVE the book...and it's a quick read. Second, because my grandpa was one of the men that liberated Ellie (the author). He met Ellie a few years ago, and has some great stories. I'm going to be in touch with my grandpa to see what kinds of things I can come up with for our discussion, so you won't want to miss it!!!! The book is only about 100 pages long, so we also decided to throw in the book;
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption
It seems to be a pretty popular book at the library, so I hope some of you will be able to read it in time. I also have a great tip from my sis in-law about books from the library. If there is a long waiting list, try holding the books with the large print instead...often the waiting list is not nearly as long so you can get the book faster. I thought that was great information, because I'm going to need it if I want to read unbroken in time.
So look for some exciting discussions coming up....February 28th at my house we will be discussion Freakenomics. If you can come (& read the book; which would be even better then just coming) have a chapter in mind that was your favorite and would like to discuss. Then in March we will be discussing Night and Unbroken and whatever cool stuff I can get from my grandpa.
Sorry I can't post a picture of us "hot chicks" from book club in January. For some reason it saved to my cameras internal memory and not my SMD card. I can't find the cord to hook it up to my computer, so :( no pics. Sorry! Someone remind me next time to take a picture for sure, so we can show off our larger numbers! yay!!!!
